CADENCE | The Path
The Path exhibited at Torrance Art Museum, Los Angeles
Cadence / The Path brings together moving image, biometric data, running, rhythm and landscape.
The works developed from a practice of recording the body in motion: running through fog, weather, fatigue and unstable terrain while gathering GPS traces, heart-rate data, sound and image. Rather than treating this data as measurement alone, the work uses it as a way of making bodily experience visible and spatial.
In The Path, a mountain run becomes a moving image work layered with GPS and biometric overlays. The body is seen navigating mist, gradient and exhaustion, while the screen becomes a record of effort, orientation and drift.
Cadence expands this material into an audio-visual installation, using dual-screen video, light and sound to translate rhythm, pressure and attention into an immersive environment. The work sits between documentation, performance and interface: a record of movement, but also a system for sensing how the body responds under pressure.
Together, the works explore endurance, perception and the mediated body — asking how technologies of tracking, mapping and feedback shape the way we understand physical experience.
